Welcome to the official website of the International Federation for Theatre Research (IFTR) African and Caribbean Theatre and Performance Working Group. We are a community of scholars and creatives dedicated to advancing research, fostering collaboration, and sharing knowledge within the vibrant fields of African and Caribbean theatre and performance.

Our story

The International Federation for Theatre research (IFTR) African and Caribbean Theatre and Performance Working Group was established to create a dedicated space for academics and practitioners interested in these rich and dynamic theatrical traditions. Our journey began with a shared passion for exploring the complexities, histories, and contemporary expressions of African and Caribbean performance, recognizing their profound impact on global culture and discourse.

We facilitate networking opportunities, encourage cross-cultural dialogue, and promote diverse research interests.
